SMRT (WORLD KRASS TRAnsport) Breaks down!!!!
Some 57, 000 passengers were affected by the disruption in MRT train services between Pasir Ris and Tanah Merah stations this morning.
Both west and east bound services have since resumed, at 1245 pm. The disruption which lasted more than 7 hours, was caused by a breakdown of a maintenance works train.
During the delay period, the eastbound trains were turned around at Tanah Merah station.
Some 70 buses were deployed to ferry passengers between the affected stations.
In addition, westbound shuttle trains serving Tampines, Simei and Tanah Merah stations were operated at a 28 minute interval to ease the passenger flow.
Passengers were informed of the disruption through train and station annoucements, notices, rail travel information system as well as broadcast channels.
In a statement , SMRT apologised for the inconvenience caused.
Passengers who were unable to complete their journeys due to the dusruption can claim a full fare refund from the Passenger Service Centre from any of the 51 SMRT stations from today till Thursday.
